Boot Camp Assignment – Eat These 3 Foods Every Day
I have another assignment for you in the diet department and I’m going to ask you to add a few foods to your daily diet, rather than going negative and asking you to remove certain foods.
I have a general philosophy that many of you already know, that it’s easier to succeed, not only in the short-term, but the long-term as well, if you switch your focus from removing negative foods and behaviors to adding good foods and behaviors.
By that I mean it’s better to focus on the addition of fiber-rich vegetables, rather than focusing on the removal of processed foods. The result is often the same no matter your focus – removal of crap, addition of good – but the mindset shift is what’s important. It’s always better to keep your focus on the positive, rather than the negative.
So going with that, I want you to add the following 3 foods to your daily diet this week.
3. Bell Peppers (variety of colors)
That’s easy enough, right? Those 3 foods can be found pretty easily and aren’t that difficult to add to your daily diet.
You can add the blueberries to a smoothie, munch on ‘em separately or toss ‘em in with a salad or all-natural yogurt.
The pistachios are the ultimate in snacking while chilling out and watching television or reading – just don’t go too mindless or you could eat hundreds of the suckers.
The Bell Peppers can be sliced and dipped in hummus, added to salads or used as toppings on a healthy pizza (speaking of which, remind me to give you a recipe for a healthy pizza recipe).
Aaaaaand, I can already hear a few grumbles about blueberries being expensive and, it’s true, they can be expensive…
…If you buy fresh. Buy frozen instead of fresh to get over the sticker shock. One of the main reasons we have a membership to Sam’s Club is for their stock of frozen fruit. You can buy 5 pound bags of frozen blueberries for like $8 or $9. Sweet!!
Keeping in line with the blueberries, I have to have mine either in smoothies or eat them fresh because I don’t like them soggy or squished. I’m a texture person when it comes to food and squished or soft berries weird me out. It gives me the heeby-jeebies just thinking about it.
But I’m weird.
Do you think you can handle that for the rest of the week?
Of course you can!
Adding those 3 foods should be incredibly simple and the good thing is that if you focus on adding those 3 foods, while also throwing in a few others, you won’t have room for the bad stuff. You’ll also start to create new habits, or re-enforce existing habits.
Alrighty, I’ll let you get on with your day.
Eat those 3 foods on a daily basis or risk being placed in timeout or having your name written on the “naughty board.”
